Fallout New Vegas: Review!

Hi Everyone

DISCLAIMER (or something)!!! This review will only cover the main game and not the expansions. Mainly because I haven’t completed the main story yet and I only ever do expansions after I’ve done the main story. Don’t worry though I’ve seen enough of the game to make a fairly good stab at a review.
So what’s new about Fallout New Vegas? Well as you would expect there’s a whole new (giant) area to play in, with an awesome story will based around you looking for this guy who shot you in the face and taking a side in the war between the NCR and Caesars Legion. And of course there’s a bunch of new weapons and items. The difference between this story line and Fallout 3’s is massive and that makes this game feel fresh, rather than just continuing on from whatever in the over game. New things like the open story line and the reputation system make this a lot more fun than before and it makes it a much better sand-box game.
Although the new features are really good, I feel that more should have been changed for this game. The graphics haven’t changed at all and that’s a bit of a let-down. Updating the graphics is usually the main difference in a sequel. So when I saw the same graphics, it just felt like another Fallout 3 add-on. That’s the problem with this game in in this way it is just too similar to Fallout 3. Also some things included in this game have been done on Fallout 3 by  modders. For instance the aim down sight facility can be downloaded for Fallout 3, if you have it for PC. So for PC players, they might be a little let down by the game, but all of these things are made up for by the story line and the replay ability of it. For example the hard-core mode. I (as I’m sure a lot of people did) did not do hard-core mode straight away, but I definitely will. So through that I’m already guaranteed to be playing it through at least once more (Probably more).
So the gist of this is that as a story it is good. It has included a lot of things that were left out of Fallout 3, and is fun to play. The only problem is that the graphics should have been updated, to prevent it from feeling like a really long Fallout 3 expansion. All in all I give it 7/10.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 review

Hi everybody!

I thought that since Battlefield 3 will be with us soon, it's probably a good time to do this review. This review will not include BC2: vietnam.

The plot of the game is looking for a powerfull weapon in order to stop the Russians from using it against the US. I wont go into details about the story, but it is a brilliant story line. It's in someways similar to the story line of Killzone. In that a four man squad has to fight countless enemy soldiers through various different biomes, to prevent various disasters. I know that description doesn't sound great, but it does make for awesome campaigns. This campaign is really well thought out in terms of the story and really engaging in terms of the gameplay. The ability to control (and use) vehicles completes the game. It is another one of those games you want to play over and over again.

To the world of multiplayer! The multiplayer on this game is revolutionary. It is amazing! The game types are beyond the standard. Rush mode is what defines the online aspect of this game. And it is one of the most intense game modes i've played. Usually i'm not bothered if i win or lose, because i'm just looking to have fun. BUT rush mode is something else. I'm desperate to win those games everytime. The maps are epic. They are large and filled with buildings, which allows many different types of play styles. It's sniper friendly, rushing friendly and tactful/ stealth friendly. Another thing that makes this "revolutionary" is the destructable environment. Is some fucker camping by a doorway in a building? Then blow the fucking doorway to hell! There is just one hitch with the multiplayer, that can take away the fun of it. Spawn trapping. It doesn't always happen, but occasionaly i'll get into a game where some douche is sitting in my teams spawn, or they have a helicopter flying in circles around the spawn. There's no point in playing a match if that's happening in my opinion.

All in all, however, the game is awesome. as a series i think it's better than the Call of Duty series, but what do you think? write a comment and let me know. The BF- CoD debate is a pretty heated one and i want to know why people prefer which ever series!

Overall i give this game 8/10. It's great in all aspects. The only thing that lets it down is the spawn killing problem. Other than that it is flawless (IMO).

P.S. I will be doing a Battlefield 3 review sooner after the release than this one (Shocking, i know). I am getting BF 3 for PC and will have to upgrade my computer. You can expect the review around christmas time. Still pretty late, but better than a year late i guess. Thanks.

Medal of Honor review

Hello everybody,

Lets look at Medal of Honor!!
Medal of Honor is in my opinion a brilliant game. As you all know it is designed to incorporate aspects of the Call of Duty series and the Battlefield series. It does the well, there's no kind of bias towards one game or the other (despite the multiplayer being developed by Frostbite- the people who developed Battlefield's multiplayer). So this game is literally the middle ground between CoD and Battlefield. Hoowever it didn't seem to recieve the attention that it perhaps should of. This is probably because of it's release date being so close to Black Ops. This (In my opinion) poor marketing strategy. It's a shame really, because the developers put loads of research into the game even down to how the guns should sound.

Anyways, onto the game play. The campaign mode is set in Afganistan. You play as multiple characters, but the main character is a US Navy SEAL. The plot is really well thought out and is one of the best story lines i have played. You get to expirience different types of combat, from stealth to guerrilla style fighting to all out battles to vehicle combat. That's what made the campaign replayable for me. I prefer to fight in different styles throughout a game (particularly stealth), so it made it extremely fun.

Another cool feature with this game is the Tier 1 mode, where you have to play against the clock to beat set times. This changed the way i played completely and makes it feel like a whole different campaign.

Onto the multiplayer. I think the multiplayer is fantasticly awesome! It's back to the basics, but that makes it better, rather than boring. It reminds me of the simple days of CoD 4. you don't have to much to think about in terms of class, i.e. weapons, perks, killstreaks, ect. The only think you have to think about is how you play. It's more based on player skill, than the over powered perks and weapons you use. Everyone gets the same killstreaks and the weapons are balanced. The game modes include standard TDMs and objective based game modes. The maps are amazing! They're very well constructed and give players many options. They are really sniper friendly too, but not sniper dependant or too small. It feels quite like CoD with hints of Battlefield, but in terms of how you play, it's very similar to Battlefield... You have to use tactics rather than just run around. But it's also just out and out fun! Right now it is my favourite multiplayer.

Overall i give Medal of Honor 9/10. It deserves it and every FPS player should own it.

But i want to know what other people think, it's like a third player in a CoD- Battlefield fight, so go ahead and comment and tell me your opinions.

Thanks!

Brink Review!

Hello everybody!

Lets talk about Brink!
Brink got some pretty mixed reviews overall, but I think it is AWESOME! I really enjoyed the gameplay, it's a pretty unique style of play. Although, there is not so much of the parkour as i thought there would be. The parkour was hugely emphasised.
The really cool thing about this game is the level of customisation. There's so much that can be done, that i'm changing my characters nearly constantly. It makes doing the challenges in the game worth doing other than just for the achievments.
Another good point about the game is the spawn points. They're actually protected so you don't have to worry about fucking spawn killers.

The downside of the game is that it's pretty short. Although the list looks big, you find yourself getting through it pretty quickly. I was happy when the DLC came out (which is cool aswell-- Whole new areas on the Ark), but that is only an extra 4 missions... and more customisation shit.

All in all, it's a good game, you'll find yourself going back to it over and over. I give it 8/10.

Thanks for reading and feel free to go and comment.

Call of Duty: Black Ops review

Hey Everyone,

I guess Call of Duty is the natural place for a games review person to start, right? Even though Modern Warfare 3 is just around the corner, I'm going to do this mega late review.

So lets start with the single player campaign. I personally thought the Black Ops campaign was one of the best of the Call of Duty campaigns so far. The reason is it is different to what has already been done. It's a different perspective on a the campaigns of the series so far. Also the story line is really good. It's more than just your out and out "Lets shoot the shit out of everything". You do get to shoot the shit out of plenty of enemies, but there's a lot of background to the story and interesting twists. It becomes more like a psychological thriller game.

The zombie aspect of the game is pretty fun and you can easily spend hours playing it trying to get past your previous highest level. The same goes for the arcade zombie game, which is just plain funny!!!

So... Multiplayer, that's what CoD is all about, right? I personally am not entirely sold on Black Ops' multiplayer. The introduction of features like CoD Points and combat training is good and again puts an awesome new aspect into the series, but that hasn't made me enjoy multiplayer anymore than on Modern Warfare 2. One problem i think is that the maps are too small, and not entirely sniper friendly. I am more of a sniper on CoD games ( Don't worry i'm not a rush around, spray fire, quick scoping sniper that pisses everyone off... I do it properly.) But in this game I don't see any point in trying to snipe.

All in all it has many good points in regards the single player, but for me, the multiplayer lets it down.
I think it's worth 6/10... Not bad, but there are better games in this genre.

Please comment and let me know your opinions.
